& the late Mary Isabella Blair (nee Miller).
Born at Harrington, Cumberland, (26)

The collier MAIN SS was intercepted by a German submarine UC-75
one and a half miles E. of Drummore, Luce Bay, Wigtownshire,
on October 9th, 1917 when on route from Belfast for Liverpool in ballast.
The submarine opened fire from the surface and sank the vessel by gunfire.
† Twelve men were killed. The captain was among the survivors.
Refloated August 7, 1920, repaired, and returned to service in 1922. (Allen Tony)
