Our loving Husband, Father and Friend passed away on Monday, April 10, 2000 after a valiant struggle with cancer.

Jay was born June 18, 1943, in Boise, Idaho to Albert Earl and Leah Fowler Blair. Jay grew up in Grace, Idaho where he was active in school, sports, and church activities. After High School, Jay served a mission for the LDS Church in the Central Atlantic States Mission. On June 11, 1965 Jay married Nancy Jo Newey in the Logan Temple. Their love for each other increased every day. They served each other every day of their marriage.Shortly after marriage, Jay was drafted in the US Army where he became an officer and served for 14 years. At the time of his discharge, he had reached the rank of Major. After active duty, he entered Brigham Young University and graduated with a Bachelors degree in Communications.

Jay was employed by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints for 22 years. He was manager of Historical sites and Exhibits for the church. He enjoyed his job very much. Jay was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served diligently in numerous church callings, including Bishop and Stake President. He loved serving the Lord and touched many lives.

He was blessed with six children whom he loved and cherished. Jay enjoyed camping with the family and attending BYU sporting events. Jay also enjoyed the role of Grandfather to Nathan, Jared, Maia and Ian.

He is survived by his wife, Nancy Jo Newey Blair of Orem; two sons and three daughters: Zoii (Carl) Nethery of West Jordan, Utah; Troy (Sarah) Blair of Orem; Jonette (Clint) Webster of Orem; Sister Julie Blair of Florida, Ft. Lauderdale Mission; and Ryan Blair of Orem. Jay has one sister; Sherri Garner of Battle Mountain, Nevada. Jay was preceded in death by his parents and his daughter, Tammy.

Funeral services will be held Friday, April 14, 2000, at 11 a.m. in the Orem Utah North Stake Center, 1000 N. Main, Orem.

Friends may call at the Walker Sanderson Funeral Home, 646 E. 800 North, Orem, Thursday evening from 6 to 8:30 p.m. or at the Stake Center on Friday morning from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. Burial will be in the Orem City Cemetery.

The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses who assisted and the many friends and neighbors who have been so helpful during Jay's illness.
