Survivors of Ms. Bertha are her two daughters, Gloria McCarthy of Pierre Part, and Mary Savoy and husband Jerry J. Savoy of Prairieville; two sons, Iris Alleman and wife Donna DeMetz Alleman and Vernon J. Alleman and wife Lisa Casteigne Alleman, all of Pierre Part; 10 grandchildren, Cynthia Holland and husband Gary of Pierre Part, Annette Richie and husband Randy of Bayou Corne, Jennifer Giambrone and husband John of Napoleonville, Alvin McCarthy Jr. of Pierre Part, Christopher Savoy and Elizabeth Savoy, both of Prairieville, Claire Alleman, Jarrod Alleman, Madeline Alleman and Austin Alleman, all of Pierre Part; four great-grandchildren, Kelli Burt and husband Mark, Denise Charlet and husband Anthony, Donnie Albarado Jr. and Jake Albarado; two step-great-grandchildren, Ashley Richie and Matthew Richie; three great-great-grandchildren, Brayden Albarado, Cadin Burt and Allen Charlet; a step-great-great-grandchild, Korey Starns; and a host of nieces and nephews who adoringly called her "Taunt Bert."
She was preceded in death by her husband, Horace Alleman; parents, Octave and Ledia Gaudet Blanchard; son-in-law, Alvin McCarthy Sr.; two sisters, Anna Belle Alleman and Mable Blanchard; and seven brothers, Clifton, Milton, Harry, Eugene, Albert, William and Norbert Blanchard.
The family wishes to express a special thanks to her four caregivers, Lou Anna Dupuis, Mattie Giroir, Lebet Daigle and Shirleen Landry for their extraordinary love and care of our mother. The family also extends their appreciation and heartfelt thanks to Dr. Glen Schexnayder for his wisdom, medical advice and full support of our efforts these past nine years. Finally, a heartfelt thank you to St. Joseph Hospice of Baton Rouge.
