Emma "Snookie" Louise Blanchard Battise, 63, a native and resident of Chauvin, died at 4 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 21, 2007.

Visitation will be from 4 to 10 p.m. today and from 8 a.m. to funeral time Friday at the Knights of Columbus Hall in Chauvin. Mass will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Joseph Catholic Church, with burial in the church cemetery.

She is survived by her husband of 48 years, Richard V. Battise Sr. of Chauvin; three sons, Kelly Battise and wife, Kim, of Gray, Jason Battise and wife, Amanda, and Robert Battise and wife, Shanna, of Chauvin; two daughters, Elizabeth "Liz" Champagne and husband, Marc, of Chauvin, and Tonni LeCompte and husband, John, of Houma; one brother, Gervis Blanchard and wife, Janice, of Chauvin; three sisters, Evelyn Charpentier and husband, Joseph, of Chauvin, Lucy Chauvin and Ena Savoie of Montegut; one sister-in-law, Dorothy Blanchard of Chauvin; 18 grandchildren, Derek Vernon Battise, Rusty Paul Smith, Dean Richard Battise, Tesha Ann Battise, Joan Holder, Amanda Champagne, Lacey Battise, Casey Battise, Rich Battise, Becky Battise, Megan Battise, Josie Guidry, Joshua Authement, Johnny Battise, Shane Battise, Brian LeCompte, Christopher V. Battise and Courtney A. Battise; and two great-grandchildren, Gabrielle Battise and Emily Holder.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Alexander Blanchard and Theresa Blanchard; one son, Richard V. Battise Jr.; one grandchild, Jennifer Champagne; one brother, Roland Blanchard; one sister, Betty Babin; and two brothers-in-law, Albert Savoie and Jessie Babin.

She was a homemaker, a bridge tender for Louisiana Department of Transportation for 10 years, worked for Council on Aging more than six years, past teacher of French at Upper Little Caillou, loved crafting, sewing, gardening and especially growing her flowers. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She will be forever missed by all who knew and loved her.

She was a parishioner of St. Joseph Catholic Church.
