Barbara was a member of one of Fresno County's founding ranching families. She enjoyed many family outings with both her Sample and Blasingame family members in the foothills and Sierra Mountains surrounding Fresno.
Barbara began school at a country school where Table Mountain Casino now stands. She later moved to Fresno and graduated from Fresno High School. Barbara attended University of Oregon, and while attending there, she pledged Chi Omega Sorority.
Barbara returned to Fresno and worked at Bank of America in downtown Fresno during World War II.
Robert Becker, an Air Force Officer stationed at Camp Pinedale, was introduced to Barbara, and a whirlwind courtship of seven weeks resulted in a loving 62 year marriage.
Barbara and Bob established their home in Fresno after the war, establishing their own farming operation. Bob and Barbara were devoted to each other and their only child, Thelma Lenore Becker. Barbara was an impeccable homemaker and loving wife, mother, daughter, sister, aunt, and friend.
She was known to all for her creative and talented needle work.
Barbara had a wonderful dry wit and sense of humor.
Barbara leaves behind her loving husband, Bob Becker; daughter, Thelma Lenore Becker; brothers and sister-in-law, Morgan Blasingame, Knox Blasingame, Jr., and Carol Blasingame; and nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church on Tuesday, March 7, 2006, at 10:00 a.m., followed by interment at Academy Cemetery.
