Bernice Blackmore, 91, a former resident of Portland Square, Fond du Lac, and formerly of Armstrong, died Tuesday, Aug. 15, 2006, at Grancare Nursing and Rehab Center, Fond du Lac, where she has been a resident for the last 18 months.

She was born on July 4, 1915, in the town of Forest, the daughter of the late Joseph and Helena Schneider Blatz. On May 14, 1945, she married James S. Blackmore at St. Michael's Church, Dotyville. They farmed together in the town of Osceola.

Bernice was a lifelong member of Shepherd of the Hills Catholic Church. Bernice was a homemaker and was involved with many church activities. She also enjoyed playing bingo and sheephead.

Survivors include her children, James (Penny) of Oshkosh, Richard (Diane) of Eden and Sharon (Ken) Vokral of Mosinee; her grandchildren, Ethan and Ashley Vokral, Ryan and Marissa Blackmore, Jim (Jenny) Blackmore and Aron (fiancee Kris Rahn) Blackmore; her brother, Jerry (Bernadette) Blatz of Dotyville; her sisters-in-law, Loretta Blatz of Chilton and Delores Blatz of Milwaukee; nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James, on May 5, 1981; her sisters, Vi and Evelyn; her brothers, Clarence, Leo "Shorty," Edward Blatz, Frank Petrie and Larry and Ray Blatz.

Services: A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 17, 2006, at Shepherd of the Hills Catholic Church, Eden. The Rev. Joseph Juknialis will officiate, and burial will be on Friday at Our Lady of Angels Cemetery, Armstrong.
Visitation: Visitation will be from 4 p.m. until time of Mass on Thursday, Aug. 17, 2006, at the church. Twohig Funeral Home, Campbellsport, is serving the family.
