Gregor J. Blatz, 80, of 300 South Sixth Street, St. Nazianz, a former rural Kiel resident, died Tuesday afternoon at Holy Family Medical center, Manitowoc, after apparently suffering a heart attack at his home.
He was born June 19, 1906, in Mount Calvary a son of the late Charles and Gertrude Schneider Blatz. He attended Holy Cross Catholic School, Mount Calvary. On September 17, 1929, he married Adela Wagner at St. Peter Catholic Church, St. Peter. She died April 29, 1983. He was employed at Arps Corporation, New Holstein, until retiring in 1971. Mr. Blatz was a member of Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Kiel.
Survivors include three sons, Glenroy of Kiel, Marvin, route 1 Malone, and Eugene of St. Nazianz; two daughters, Mrs. James(Mary Jane) Platz of Howards Grove, and Mrs. James (Jerriann) Endries, Route 1, Valders; 28 grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; two brothers, Clem of Mount Calvary, and Norbert of New Holstein; and two sisters, Mrs. Regina Oakley of Mount Calvary, and Mrs. Viola Meyer of rural Mount Calvary. He was preceded in death by a grandchild.
A funeral Mass was held Friday at Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church. The Rev. Thomas Leannah, pastor, officiated. Burial was in the parish cemetery.
