Marvin C. Blatz, 73, of Town Line Road, Kiel, died Friday morning, July 29, 2005, at Aurora Sheboygan Memorial Medical Center after a short battle with cancer.
He was born in the town of Marshfield, near Mt. Calvary, son of the late Gregor and Adela Wagner Blatz. Marvin attended Johnsburg and Kiel schools. On May 12, 1962, he married Arlene Lax at St. Gregory Catholic church, St. Nazianz. The couple farmed in the area until 1994, when they retired. Marvin was an avid bowler belonging to two leagues at the Beacon in New Holstein and was an avid golfer at Hickory Hills in a number of leagues. He had the honor of a Hole-in-One at Hickory Hills.
Survivors include his wife, Arlene; two daughters, Karen (Mark) Schaller, Green Bay, Barbara (Greg) Wanta, Collierville, Tenn.; three sons, Mark (Joleen) Blatz, Tom (Stacy) Blatz and Joseph (Beth) Blatz, all of Kiel; and 12 grandchildren. He is further survived by one brother, Eugene (Doris) Blatz, St. Nazianz; two sisters, Mary Jane (James ) Platz of Howards Grove and Jerriann (James) Endries of Valders; one sister-in-law, Henrietta Blatz, Kiel; two brothers-in-law, Frank (Dianne) Lax and James (Barb) Lax, both of Kiel; nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Glenroy Blatz; one sister-in-law, Jeanette Blatz; and a nephew, Chuck Blatz.
Funeral services will be at Meiselwitz-Vollstedt Funeral Home, with the Rev. Loren Nys SDS officiating. Burial will take place in SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Cemetery.
