Fond du Lac Reporter, Sun. May 5, 1995, p. B8:3. Edwin P. Blatz, 95, formerly of 565 Marshall Ave., died Fri. May 26, 1995, at All About Life Rehabilitation Center. He was born Jan. 14, 1900, in the Town of Taycheedah to Joseph and Anna Simon Blatz. On Feb. 10, 1931, he married Wilhelmina Schmitz at St. Mary’s Church. Mr. Blatz was engaged in farming in the Fond du Lac area during the 1930s and later was employed by Giddings & Lewis for more than 20 years in the paint department. He retired in 1962. After retiring, he was employed as a gardener at several private residences in Fond du Lac. He was a member of St. Mary’s Church and a former member of the Holy Name Society and a former member of Knights of Columbus Council 664. Survivors include four daughters, Joyce Gross and her husband Gerald of Fond du Lac, Donna Webb and her husband Thomas of Fond du Lac, Gloria Schumacher and her husband Gerald of Rosendale, and Jean Norenberg and her husband Dale of Fond du Lac; one son, John Blatz of Fond du Lac; 13 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Vi Reed of Chicago and Bernice Blackmore of Armstrong; and one brother, Gerald and his wife Bernadette of Dotyville. He was preceded in death by his wife in July 1973; one sister, Evelyn Hanson; and five brothers, Clarence, Leo, Ray and Lawrence Blatz and Frank Petrie. Funeral services will be held at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday at Zacherl Funeral Home and at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Mary’s Church. The Rev. David Meinholz will officiate. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery. Visitation is from 3 to 7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home, with a parish vigil service at 4 p.m.
