Obituary from the Edwardsville Intelligencer, Edwardsville, Madison County, Illinois, Saturday, November 8, 1969, page 3:
  Mrs. Mary S. Pfeiffer, 91, formerly of 324 Benton St., died at 1:20 p.m. Friday at Anna-Henry Nursing Home.
  Mrs. Pfeiffer and her husband, the late Fred F. Pfeiffer, formerly owned and operated the old Pfeiffer Hotel for many years, later known as the Colonial Hotel. It was located on the site of the First Federal Savins and Loan building [now Clover Leaf Bank].
  Born July 19, 1878, at Worden, she was a daughter of the late Daniel and Minnie Koenig Blixen. She was married to Fred Pfeiffer, June 14, 1899, at Eden United Church of Christ by the late Rev. Alfred Meyer. Mr. Pfeiffer preceded her in death in September, 1948.
  Surviving are three sons, Arthur E. Pfeiffer preceded her in death in September, 1948.
  Surviving are three sons, Arthur E. Pfeiffer of Edwardsville, Wilbur H. Pfeiffer of Dayton, Ohio, and Elmer W. Pfeiffer of Chappaqua, N.Y.; three grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
  Four brothers and one sister also preceded her in death.
  Mrs. Pfeiffer was a member of Eden United Church of Christ and of the Women's Guild, Circle No. 6, of the church.
  Friends may call at Lesley Marks Funeral Home after 11 a.m. Sunday until 11 a.m. Monday. The body will lie in state at Eden United Church of Christ from noon Monday until the hour of the service at 2 p.m., Monday.  The Rev. Donald E. Crismon, church co-pastor, will officiate.
  Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery.

Pallbearers were William C. Blixen, Victor H. Bartels, George H. Koenig, Louis Miller, Edward Schaberg and Elmer H. Pape.
