Mr. Edmond Blue, age 82, left this world to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Thursday, June 2, 2016 at Carolinas Hospital System in Florence, SC surrounded by his loving family.



Born May 1, 1934 in Bennettsville, SC, he was the son of the late Thomas Marshall and Livie Henslee Blue. Mr. Edmond was the Owner & Operator of Blue’s Heating & Air Conditioning Company for over 40 years and attended Salem Baptist Church as his health would allow. He served his country proudly in the United States Army from July 1, 1953 as a Paratrooper in the 82nd Airborne Division and was honorably discharged on June 29, 1953. He was awarded (1) National Defense Service Medal and (1) Parachute Badge. He was a member of the American Legion Red Bluff Post in Clio, the V.F.W. and the National Rifle Association.



Mr. Edmond was a local politician, having served two consecutive terms as a member of the Marlboro County Council and received a Certificate of Appreciation from former State Representative Doug Jennings. He loved to compete in dirt track racing at the Dillon Motor Speedway as well as other dirt tracks. He was also an avid hunter and fisherman and enjoyed netting shad.



He is survived by his loving wife, Mary Grace Blue of their home, and they would have celebrated 60 years of marriage in October; by 2 precious daughters, Brenda Goodwin (Andy) of Anderson, SC and Rebecca Dianne Brigman of Bennettsville; and by 2 devoted sons, Ricky Edmond Blue (Jeanie) and Sherwood M. “Woody” Blue both of Bennettsville; also by 7 grandchildren, Jamie Goodwin, Jeffrey Goodwin and Jennifer Compton all of Anderson, SC, Anderson Blue, Edmond Keith Blue, Stetsen A. Brigman and Hunter M. Blue all of Bennettsville; 7 great-grandchildren, Ethan Goodwin, J.J. Goodwin, IV, Madison Grace Goodwin, Emily F. Goodwin, Lucas Hayes Goodwin, Jenna Breann Goodwin all of Anderson, SC and Paisley L. Blue of Bennettsville.



Funeral services will be 3:00 P.M. on Monday, June 6, 2016 at Burroughs & Cooper Funeral Home Chapel with burial following at Salem Baptist Church Cemetery. Visitation for family and friends will be held from 6:00-8:00 P.M. on Sunday, June 5, 2016 at Burroughs & Cooper Funeral Home.



He was preceded in death by his parents listed above; by brothers, Robert, Kenneth, Charles, James, Fred and Herbert Blue; and by sisters, Syble Peacock, Ola Isgett, Virginia Evans, Frances Quick and Mary Magdalene Hyatt.
