"Mrs. Marie Backes died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. George Voss of near Linn, Friday (May 1936) afternoon after an illness of about two months. She was born at Loose Creek January 23, 1859. She was married to Gustav Backes at Loose Creek on Jan. 30, 1883, and to this union were born six children, two of whom survive her.
