Sarah Grace Boardman Baxter was the daughter of Lewis Smith Boardman (#12003512) and Sarah Bertha Bailey. She enjoyed music and was said to have had a lovely singing voice. She demonstrated pianos in the Lloyd Baxter Music Store, in Parkersburg, Wood, West Virginia, where she met her husband, James Wilson Baxter. She married him in Rapid City, South Dakota, in 1906. She had daughter Besse Inez Baxter in Rapid City in 1908. Her other daughter, Bertha Wyllis Baxter (#12013452), was born in Edon, Williams, Ohio, in 1912. Grace died of tuberculosis in Comfort, Texas, when she was only 30 years old, leaving behind her daughters, ages 7 and 3. The girls were raised by Grace's sister Besse Amelia Boardman (#12017243).
