Freeman farmed in the Juda area for many years, and later went to work for General Motors in Janesville in the paint and repair department; where he worked for 25 years, retiring in 1980. He was a member of the United Methodist Church of Brodhead, Bicknell Masonic Lodge #94 of Brodhead, and was a lifelong collector of arrowheads.
He is survived by three children: Karen (Donald) Thompson of New Glarus, Duane (Pat) Boeck of Orfordville, and Kathy (Gary Rice) Condon of Madison; 17 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; and a sister, Darlyne Bernet of Argyle.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; sons, Dennis and David; granddaughter, Glenda Scott; three brothers: Clarence, Frank, and Delbert; and five sisters: Lois Milz, Florence Swettwood, Irene Riesen, Eldora Bregenzer, and Thelma Le.
Visitation and Funeral services were held Monday, April 25, 2011, at the United Methodist Church of Brodhead, with Reverend Steve Groves officiating. Burial followed in Mt. Vernon cemetery in Juda. Everson Funeral Home of Brodhead assisted the family.
