Susan M. Bixler, 61, of McKnight Street, Gordon, passed away Sunday morning, Feb. 8, 2015, shortly after admission to the Schuylkill Medical Center, Pottsville.
Born Oct. 7, 1953, in Pottsville, she was a daughter of the late George and Marlene (Wise) Bohr.
She was a 1972 graduate of Pine Grove High School.
Susan married Delmar Bixler, who survives. Her passing ends a marital union of 28 years.
She was employed for the Fox Napp Company of Pine Grove as a sewing machine operator, and later as a receptionist for the Manor Care Nursing Center, Pottsville, until her retirement.
She was a member of Bethany Evangelical Congregational Church, Ashland. Susan was a very caring person, helping with Ashland Food Pantry for many years.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by a son, Lamar Bixler, of Gordon; two sisters, Ester Bassininsky, of Donaldson, and Karen Butler and her husband, Todd, of Pine Grove; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Sandy, Aug. 11, 2004, and a brother, Samuel Bohr.
Relatives and friends were invited to attend a memorial funeral service at the Richard W. Fritz Funeral Home, 1323 Centre St., Ashland. The Rev. Bryan Dever will officiate. Interment will be held in St. Andrew's Cemetery, Valley View.
