Hertha Melton Bolden, 85, a native of Terrebonne Parish and resident of Houma, died at 3:27 p.m. Tuesday, August 7, 2001.
She is survived by her husband, Clarence Bolden; three daughters, Beaulah Gaither of Lynwood, Calif., Shirley Caver of Newburgh, N.Y., and Alberda Verdin of Houma; She also reared Herman Verdin, John and Jerry Trosclair all of Houma; 19 grandchildren, 51 great-grandchildren and 17 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Letha Harris Melton; two daughters, Betty Ann Bolden and Hannah Coleman; and two sisters, Yvonne Trosclair and Annie Mae Fitch.
She was a member of the Deaconess Board and Choir member. She was a homemaker.
She was a member of Morning Star Baptist Church.
