He attended school to eighth grade in Haswell, when his family moved to Cushing in 1935. He graduated from Cushing High School in 1939. On Dec. 7, 1941 , while attending St. Paul Business College, he accepted a Civil Service Appointment in the War Department Message Center in Washington, D.C. On March 31, 1942, he enlisted in the U.S. Army Signal Corps. He was stationed at South Post Fort Myer, Va., with duty in the Pentagon Telecommunication Center. He was honorably discharged on Jan. 24, 1946, and continued his communication duties in the Civil Service. He retired after 28 years in 1970 and moved to Shelton, where he lived until his death.
