Salomon "Sal" Bonney passed away after a brief illness on January 17, 2007, in Reno, NV.
Sal was born on October 30, 1925, in Pastura, NM, and later resided in Albuquerque and San Francisco.
Sal served his country honorably in World War II as a member of the United States Navy and fought at Iwo Jima. His life can be defined by his positive outlook, independent spirit and deep Catholic faith.
Sal was preceded in death by his parents, Rafaelita and Martín Anaya Sr. and Salomon Bonney Sr. and by two sisters and three brothers, Elvira López, Angie Márquez, Martín Anaya, Jr., Eduardo Bonney and Eugenio Bonney.
Survivors include his children, Salomon Jr., Irene, Leon, Bruce, and Jacqueline and his beloved grandchildren. Sal's passing is also mourned by his nieces, Terry Bonney and Lisa López, and the families of both his deceased and five surviving siblings, Edwina García, Dolores Saavedra, Loretta Gómez, and Larry and Rudolfo Anaya.
A Catholic Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 10, 2007 at St. Joseph on the Rio Grande Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Mount Calvary Cemetery.
