Keith Edwin Borah 1947-2007 Keith Edwin Borah passed away at home on Oct. 30, 2007 following a brief illness. A viewing will be held from 3 to 5 p.m., Sunday, Nov. 4, 2007 at Cloverdale Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held 10:30 a.m., Monday, Nov. 5, 2007 at Cloverdale Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Middleton Cemetery. Keith retired on Sept. 14, 2007 from a law enforcement career that spanned more than three decades. At his retirement ceremony, Sheriff Gary Raney described Keith's heroic actions in saving a victim of a burning car, which resulted in Keith earning one of only three Medals of Valor awarded by the Ada County Sheriff's Department. Born Sept. 12, 1947 in Boise, Keith was the oldest of four sons born to Jeraldyne and Everett Borah. Raised in Twin Falls, Keith was a quiet boy and an avid reader who attended the College of Southern Idaho for three years, intending to become a history teacher. There, his interest switched to law enforcement, and he transferred to Boise State College to finish a degree in criminal justice in 1971. Keith began his law enforcement career with Canyon County in Jan. 1973, working for Sheriff George Nourse. He met the love of his life, Dian Alexander, on a blind date in Oct. of 1973. They were married on June 22, 1974. Their life together began in Caldwell, where they welcomed sons, Michael and Kyle into their lives. In 1988, the family moved to Boise five years after Keith became an Ada County Deputy Sheriff. He retired as a Senior Deputy, having worked various assignments, including the jail, patrol, and Boise State University. Besides being an exemplary deputy, Keith was a mentor and teacher to the less experienced deputies. Keith was a gentle giant who shared his generosity and kind spirit with all his family and friends. His family was everything to him. His sons have fond memories of great times spent together watching sports-especially the Packers and Boise State-and Dian recalls that Keith often referred to her list of "honey-dos" as the "five-minute projects that take three days" to finish. Keith was a member of Mt. Moriah Lodge No. 39 and El Korah Shrine Temple. He also belonged to the Idaho Police Officers Association, The Boise Rifle & Pistol Club and The National Rifle Association. Keith is survived by his loving wife of 33 years, Dian; two sons, Michael and Kyle; mother, Jeraldyne Borah; three brothers: Douglas, Richard, and James; as well as a very large extended family. He was preceded in death by his father, Everett. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Keith's name to the Idaho Police Officers Association, P.O. Box 190152 Boise, Idaho 83719. Services are under the direction of Cloverdale Funeral Home.
