Per the Folsom Telegraph, January 21, 1910, "DEATH OF A.A. BORGES-A.A. Borges passed away last Saturday night at Sacramento where he had undergone two operations within the two weeks preceding his death. Deceased was a native of Azores Islands, Portugal and was aged 63 years. He came to this country when 17 years of age and was located in Carson City, Nevada for a number of years during early mining days. About twenty-five years ago he came to California and for several years lived at Negro Hill coming later to Folsom and making his home here up to the time of his death. He was a barber by trade. Deceased was held in high regard by all who knew him. He was a good citizen honest and upright in all his dealings and his intelligence and integrity made him a leader among his countrymen in this community. He is survived by a widow and five children, Jake, Joe, Antone and Lizzie Borges and Joe Rodgers. The funeral was held Wednesday from his late home and was largely attended by the local members of Workmen, Knights of Pythias and U.P.E.C. in all of which orders he was an active member, attending in a body. The pallbearers were H.C. Clemenson and Silas Showers representing the Workmen, J.P. Cox and A. Masich representing the Knights of Pythias and M. Brazil and A. Borges representing U.P.E.C. Interment was in the Catholic Cemetery."
