SOUTH BEND - Jeanne Marie (Borges) Birmingham, 80, of South Bend, IN, passed away Wednesday, September 15, 2010, at Our Lady of Peace Hospital in Mishawaka, IN. She was born June 25, 1930, in South Bend, IN to Russell and Leona (Malicka) Borges. Jeanne was a Lab Tech and had worked with her husband, Richard J. Birmingham D.D.S. for many years at his dental practice in South Bend.
On June 4, 1956, Jeanne married Richard J. Birmingham, who preceded her in death on April 24, 2002. Surviving are her children, Ellen Birmingham of South Bend, IN, Nan (Greg Kelly) Birmingham of Michigan City, IN, Mary (Craig) Bennett of Indianapolis, IN, Peter (Lisa) Birmingham of Chicago, IL; grandchildren, Corban, Caitlin, Sarah, Erin, Emily, Alec, Davis, and Jake; sisters, Pat McIntyre of Niles, MI, Marianne (Bob) Wiles of Scottsdale, AZ; and a brother, Tom (Caroline) Borges of Honolulu, HI.
Jeanne graduated from South Bend Central High School in 1950, where she was a member of SPUR. She was also a member of the Junior League of South Bend, the former Service Guild, and a member of St. Matthew Cathedral Catholic Church.
Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., Saturday, September 18, 2010, at the Kaniewski Funeral Home, 3545 N. Bendix Drive, South Bend, IN. Funeral Services will take place at 1 p.m. Saturday in the Kaniewski Funeral Home with burial to follow in Southlawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association , Greater Midwest Affiliate, Memorials and Tributes, 3816 Paysphere Circle, Chicago, IL 60674.
