Xiomara B. Acevedo of El Centro passed away on Saturday, October 29 from injuries sustained in a traffic collision, she was 40 years old.

Xiomara was born in Navolato, Sinaloa, MX on January 10, 1965 and raised in Heber. She graduated from Central Union High School in 1982. She married Salvador Acevedo in Mexicali on March 13, 1983 and together they had 4 children.

Xiomara earned an Associates degree in Law Enforcement from Imperial Valley College in 1998. Xiomara was employed by Centinela State Prison for 6 years as a correctional officer. She was involved with many worthy causes.

Visitation will be on Sunday, November 6 from 6 to 9pm at Hems Bros Mortuary in El Centro.
Mass will be officiated by Father Moreno at St. Mary's Catholic Church in El Centro on Monday, November 7, 9 am. Burial will follow at Mountain View Cemetery in Calexico.

Xiomara was preceded in death by her father, Tomas Borges in 1993 and her niece Saschenka Thomas in 1996.

Xiomara is survived by her husband, Salvador M. Acevedo; sons, Salvador Jr. (21 years old), Gerardo (16), Alejandro (14), and Michaelangelo Acevedo(12); mother, Altagracia Borges of Heber; brother, Jesus A. Nieto, Mexicali, B.C.; sisters, Maria and Lucia Zaragoza all of Heber, Victoria B. Gonzalez of El Centro, Patricia Croxton of Bakersfield and Yvonne Thomas also of El Centro; numerous nephews and nieces.

Xiomara was a wonderful wife and mother, and will be greatly missed. She will be remembered as an employee with incredible work ethics, energy and enthusiasm.
