Betty was the daughter of Raymond Boss and Grace Wininger. She moved to Corpus Christi TX to be near her sisters in 1950. She worked in the bakery at Six Points and, after completing calculator training at Del Mar College, she worked for HEB grocery totaling receipts. She attended the First Baptist Church and was baptized there. On 16 July 1953, she married Ira "Pat" Armstrong, the uncle of her brother-in-law who was 16 years her senior. Pat and Betty moved to Fort Worth where Kay was born in 1954 and Karen in 1957. Once her daughters were in high school, Betty worked at Cooks Discount Store on Belknap and later in the kitchen at Hurst General Hospital. She attended Birdville church of Christ and was unsure of her baptism so she was baptized with her daughter, Kay, on 1 Nov. 1968. She loved to cook and collected recipes as a hobby. She adored her 2 grandchildren and talked about them constantly. Betty was in poor health for several years and was only 59 years, 2 months and 30 days old at the time of her death.
