Memorial services will be held at a 10:00 A.M. Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday, July 23, at St. Mary Mother of the Church, 419 Doucet Road, Lafayette, for Jacqueline Madeline Dischler Bouligny, who died at home on Tuesday, July 19, following an extended illness.
Jackie was born in Eunice, Louisiana, on October 6, 1936, the daughter of John Paul Dischler and Anna Mary Schneider Dischler. She graduated as valedictorian from St. Francis School in Iota, LA, and from Delta Business College in Lafayette. She devoted her life to God, her family, and her many friends; she was a Lay Eucharistic Minister and a member of the Equestrian Order of the Holy Sepulchre of Jerusalem, and she performed mission work with the malades at Lourdes in France. She was a former member of the Lafayette Service League and a member since the 1960s of both L’Avenir Women’s Club and the Supper Club. She worked with her husband for over 50 years as Business Manager for Bouligny Interiors in Lafayette.
Survivors include her husband of 55 years, Joseph Daniel Bouligny, Sr.; her children, Nicole Bouligny Brown, Francesca Bouligny Orgeron, and Joseph Daniel Bouligny, Jr. and his wife Julie Brents Bouligny, of Lafayette; her siblings, Shelby Dischler Orear (and Bob), Douglas Dischler (and Kathy), Priscilla Dischler Gotreaux (and Gary); and her grandchildren, W. Lenox Brown IV, Madeline Ledet Brown, Alexandra Ann Hay, Joseph Daniel Bouligny III, Brenlyn Kay Bouligny, and Sophia Brents Bouligny. She was preceded in death by her parents and her son-in-law, Philip Jude Orgeron.
