Houston Bouligny, 89, passed away Friday, April 8, 2011 at St. Clare Manor. A native of New Roads and longtime resident of Port Allen, he was a beloved husband, brother, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. Visitation at Scott United Methodist Church, 210 Atchafalaya St., Port Allen, Wednesday, April 13, from 8 a.m. until religious service at 10 a.m. Interment in Southern Memorial Gardens. Houston was preceded in death by his wife, Ethel Mosely Bouligny; son, Houston Gerald Bouligny; infant son, Roy Bouligny; parents, Oliver and Mary Bouligny; and siblings, Oliver Jr., Wilbert, Levy, Ernest and Susie Mae. He is survived by sons and daughters-in-law, Russell Bouligny and wife Bonnie, of Union City, Calif., and Osmund Bouligny and wife Deadra, of Los Angeles; daughter and son-in-law, Kathy Knighten and husband Carnell, of Addis; grandchildren, Russell Bouligny Jr. and wife Maria, Katoiya Knighten Bell and husband Damion, Christopher Bouligny and wife Courtney, Osmund Bouligny, Jr. and Blake Bouligny; great-grandchildren, Olivia and Audrey Bell, Jordyn Bouligny and Cayden Bouligny; and a host of nieces, nephews, family, friends and other loved ones, including Malcolm Jackson who was like a son to him, and longtime family friend, Gladys Hightower. The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to the staff of the 700 Hall of St. Clare Manor and Hospice of Baton Rouge, including Nettie Guedon, Chaplain Duane Breaux and Karen Girardot.
