Alfred Z. "Sonny" Bourdon, 82, of 376 Church Street, North Adams, died Sunday, April 3, 2011 at his home.

He was born in Adams on January 11, 1929, son of the late Alfred and Helen (Michaels) Bourdon. He attended schools in North Adams and graduated from St. Joseph High School in 1947.

He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict serving with the Army, and served for thirty-five years with the Massachusetts National Guard obtaining the rank of Lt. Colonel. He was employed at the Sprague Electric Co. for thirty-eight years and was last employed at the Naval Ordinance Department at General Electric in Pittsfield.

He was a communicant of St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church and a member of the North Adams Elks Lodge.

Survivors include his wife Helen (Rougeau) Bourdon whom he married on January 8, 1949 in St. Francis of Assisi Church in North Adams; two daughters, Hope Bourdon of North Adams and Martha Rodriguez and her husband Oscar of North Adams; two sons, Keith Bourdon and his wife Joyce of Taunton, and Brian Bourdon of North Adams; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by a daughter, Paula Raymond, who died June 1, 2004, and a grandson, Richard Lussier, who died June 16, 1985.

A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. at St. Elizabeth Church in North Adams.
Burial will follow with full military honors accorded in the family plot in Southview Cemetery.
