She was preceded in death by a brother, Paul Hull Bowdre, of Hernando, Mississippi, and a sister, Esther Bowdre Newbern, of Russellville.
Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Betty and John Grabbe of Springdale; grandchildren, Dr. Michael Grabbe and wife, Brenda of Wylie, Texas, Laura Grabbe of Springdale and David Grabbe of Fayetteville; great-grandchildren, Allison Grabbe Hotchkiss and husband, Adam, of Knoxville, Tennessee, John Michael Grabbe of Dallas, Texas, Diana Rosemary Reeves of Huntsville, Matthew Grabbe of Fayetteville, and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
She attended the University of Arkansas, where she pledged Chi Omega Sorority. She was a long-time resident of Russellville, where she was a member of First United Methodist Church. In later years, she was owner of Allison's General Merchandise Store on Front Street in Dardanelle.
Her hobbies were china painting and gardening, and her main garden interests included ferns and shrubs.
She was a blessing to her family, a beloved and devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. To her daughter, she was the north star, a guiding light, a candle in the dark and best friend.
The family wishes to express appreciation and gratitude to Fayetteville Health and Rehabilitation and Circle of Life Hospice for their excellent and loving care.
Graveside services will be held Monday, November 24, 2:00p.m. at Plumerville Cemetery, Plumerville, Arkansas, with the Reverend Van Dell Moody of Plumerville United Methodist Church officiating. Arrangements are by Humphrey Funeral Service of Russellville. Viewing will be Sunday from 10:00a.m. - 5:00p.m. at the funeral home.
