"The body of Mrs. Frederick A. Lee, who died in Summit, N. J. last winter, was brought to Cooperstown Tuesday for burial in Lakewood cemetery." [The Freeman's Journal (Cooperstown, NY), July 14, 1904, Page 3]

Mrs. Symington's great-grandfather was Frederick Albert Lee who married Anne Crommelin Bowers in 1835 at Lakelands, the Bowers family home located at the head of the Susquehanna River in Cooperstown. One of the many guests at the Lee-Bowers wedding was the author James Fenimore Cooper. Anne Crommelin Bowers' grandmother was Martha Stewart Wilson, one of the 'Women of the Revolution', whose father was Charles Stewart, Commissary General under George Washington. During the Revolutionary War Mrs. Wilson made her father's house available for American officers and soldiers, including General and Mrs. George Washington, General Lafayette, and Alexander Hamilton. The Bowers-Lee common lineage goes back to Charles Stewart of Gort Lee, County, Donegal, Ireland, who fought in the Battle of the Boyne in 1690, under King William.
