OBITUARY

MRS. SPOTSWOOD D. BOWERS

The death of Mrs. Marjorie Sampson (Smith) Bowers, of this village, widow of Spotswood D. Bowers, occurred Monday in St. Luke's Hospital in New York City. She was 62 years of age.

Mrs. Bowers was born in Palmyra in July 1890, a daughter of the late Captain Roy Campbell Smith and Margaret (Sampson) Smith. Her husband, an attorney and member of a prominent Cooperstown family, died December 22, 1939. She was a member of the Colony Club of New York and of the Garden Club of America.

She is survived by five sons, Spotswood D., Roy C., Sampson P., Nathaniel P. and Alexander S. Bowers; and a brother, W. T. Sampson Smith.

Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock from Christ Episcopal Church with the Rector, the Rev. Walter A. Henricks, officiating. Burial was in the family plot in Lakewood Cemetery.
