NORWICH, NY — Mrs. Aleen Bowers passed away Saturday evening, April 10, 2004, at Chenango Memorial Hospital Emergency Room, after a brief illness.

She was born Feb. 28, 1929, in Morris, the daughter of Lynn and Inez (Colburn) Hoag.

Aleen worked for many years at the Norwich Shoe Company in Norwich. She enjoyed gardening, her many house plants and needlework. She and her longtime companion, Ed Cummings, enjoyed attending auctions and cooking.

She is survived by her companion, Ed Cummings; a daughter, Glenda Ardron; three sons, Lynn, John, and Steve Bowers, all of Norwich; four sisters, Ella Petrucci, of Schenectady, Doris Hoag, Kitty Wilcox and Eleanor Brigham, all of Garrettsville; 10 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; her extended family of children, Sue Coles, Inez and Kevin Cummings, Mary and Andrew Coles, Penny and Herb Allen, Joan and Joe Smith, Sherrie and Dave Convertino, Edwin and Amy Cummings, Cheryl Hilts, Bill Cummings; and several extended family grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Aleen was predeceased by her first husband, Glen Bowers; her son, Donald; her parents; four sisters, Ramona Alger, Patricia Parker, Geraldine Ray, Leona Hoag; and three brothers, Leland, Douglas and Robert Hoag.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, April 14, at the Johnston Funeral Home, 60 Broad St. Morris. The Rev. Romeyn Kipp of the Holmesville Baptist Church will officiate.

Friends may call at the funeral home from 12 to 2 p.m. Wednesday, before the funeral service.

Interment will be in Hillington Cemetery, Morris.

Those who wish may make a memorial contribution to the Norwich Emergency Squad, Norwich, NY 13815, in memory of Aleen Bowers.

Funeral arrangements are by the Johnston Funeral Home of Morris.
