Following Elizabeth Braden's untimely death in Sept. 1853, Walter took Ann as his wife the following December. The younger Braden children were fortunate to have Ann as their step-mother; she was a part of the lives of the younger children for many years.
Ann and Walter retired to Greensburg in their later years, and were members of the Methodist Episcopal church. A portion of Ann's obituary follows:
"Mrs. Ann K. Braden, died at the home of Richard Braden on North Broadway. She was Ann Meek, daughter of Thomas Meek, and was the youngest of 15 children. She was born near Lexington, Ky., Jan. 18, 1808, and died on Oct. 7, 1899.....she came to this county in 1822....her parents both died in 1838.....she was married to Walter Braden on Dec. 15, 1853. She had no children of her own, but she raised 7 step children........."
