Claude Braganza, 76, architect passed June 20 at home.

He was born on February 24, 1936 and was the youngest of 11 children and graduated from St Xavier's College and the JJ School of Art in Bombay.

Claude received his Bachelor of Architecture in 1959 at the University of Liverpool.

After a short stint in Nashville, he moved to Memphis in 1960 and worked with the office of Walk C Jones and Gassner Nathan & Browne where he collaborated on many projects including the First Tennessee Bank building and Temple Israel.

In 1977 he was a founding partner of BWB and completed numerous elderly housing projects for Good Samaritan and multiple Holiday Inn hotels across the US.

His largest project was the Harrah's Marina Casino in Atlantic City and was published in Architectural Record.

In 1988 he formed Braganza Associates and worked closely with Forcum Lannom with whom he had had a long standing relationship. He designed projects for Clorox, Papa John's, Delta Faucet, and Sacred Heart School in Mississippi.

Claude was involved in many organizations including St Patrick's Church, Associated Catholic Charities, Memphis Day Shelter, Calvary Downtown Ministry, United Way of Memphis, and the Church Health Center.

After he retired in 2008, he enjoyed gardening, watching the cranes that nested outside the bedroom window and delivering Meals on Wheels for MIFA.

He is survived by his wife, Astrid, and his two children, Miriam and Brian.

A visitation will be held at Memorial Park Funeral Home from 10 a.m.-12 Noon on Saturday, June 23, and a funeral mass will be held at St. Patrick's Church, 277 S. Fourth Street on Saturday at 5 p.m.
