Betty June Flud Bratton was born on March 9, 1926 in Lawton, Oklahoma, died November 28, 2009 in Roswell, NM, and was lovingly adopted by Edmond and Mini Barnes.

She lived most of her life in Roswell but her heart was in Oklahoma...a true Okie as she would say.

Graveside services will be held Monday, November 30, 2009 at 1 p.m. at South Park Cemetery.

It is on this Thanksgiving that we should all be sharing food, laughter, and love with our family and friends and giving thanks for all the blessings that God has touched us with throughout the year. However, it is with heavy hearts that we say good-bye to this beautiful spirit we all loved and cherished so much.

It was her wish that all her loved ones come together and give thanks and to remember why it is so important to cherish your loved ones while we are still on this planet. She got her wish...dinners were made and blessings were said. We all came together and told wonderfully funny stories of the lady we all hold so dear to our hearts. We gave thanks for the memories and for the opportunity to love and be loved by this amazing woman.

To remember Betty, or as we all knew her as mom or grandma, is to remember a smile, that would light up even the darkest of rooms, Which in turn would make her brilliant blue eyes twinkle. Her strength and feistiness are the stuff that legends are made of and yet she had a gentleness about her that would melt your heart. She was the cornerstone that kept all of her flock together even though they may be hundreds of miles away. Her life was never easy and yet she still did what she had to make sure that her children were loved and taken care of. She loved her children dearly and worried about them continually even in the end. She was always mending the souls of those who had lost their way. She was our guardian angel on this plane, and now she will be our angel in heaven. Her love and faith in Christ is what maintained her in life and now in death. She was at peace and was awaiting the moment that she could join her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on the golden streets in heaven and dance without pain. She was beautiful till the very end and she left us with her grace and dignity intact. The last words she wrote were simply, " I wish to achieve the impossible-with my strength and wisdom from above, it shall be done. Every day is a chance to succeed at something, never underestimate your ability-search for it and use it. Learn and relearn." These are words I think we should all live by for they came from a very wise lady.

She is preceded in death by her son Eddie Hoovis and is survived by her three strong, beautiful daughters:

Karen Flud and her children Teresa Feits, husband Will, Clint Ditmore, his children Bryce and Payton; Sharon Jauregui, husband Andrew and their children Nicole and Rita; Carolyn (Millie) Smith, husband Allen and their children April, Aaron, his son Nathan, and Matthew, his daughter Anatasia.

We wish to thank Vista Home Care/Hospice, Frontier Medical, and Anderson-Bethany Funeral Home.

Special thanks to Jane, Loretta, Lorene, Annie, and Dawn for their gentle care and loving compassion during a very difficult time.

May God Bless you always.

Thank you for all the love and memories you gave us and we will see you in heaven.
