Van B. Braxton, of 2421 Ruffin St., Norfolk, a retired longshoreman, died Thursday in a hospital. A native of King and Queen County, he was a son of George and Mrs. Kitty Braxton and the husband of the late Mrs. Minerva Braxton. He was a member of First Calvary Baptist Church.

He is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Estelle Mitchell of Norfolk; two brothers, Thomas M. Braxton of Norfolk and William M. Braxton of Chesapeake; and a sister, Mrs. Elvira Lee of Norfolk. A funeral service will be held at 1:30 p.m. sunday in First Calvary Baptist Church. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery with Morning Glory Funeral Home in charge.
