Betty Brenner Ballentine, of The Village at Robinwood and formerly of 311 Chartridge Drive, Hagerstown, Md., passed away on Dec. 26 at Ravenwood Lutheran Village.
Born in Hagerstown on Jan. 29, 1927, she was the daughter of the late L. Donald Brenner and Blanche Hollingsworth Brenner, and granddaughter of the late Bertha K. Hollingsworth, who helped raise her.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Lee Ballentine, who passed away in 2004.
She graduated from Hagerstown High School, Class of 1944.
In her early life, she was employed by The Potomac Edison Co. and Tri-state Electrical Supply Co., before becoming a homemaker and Avon representative.
She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Hagerstown, where she was active in the Women's Circle, and had served on various committees including the church council. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary at Morris Frock Post 42, and a charter member of the Antietam Valley Hummel Club.
She is survived by three children, Robert Harper Ballentine and spouse, Barbara, of Front Royal, Va., Jon Hollingsworth Ballentine Sr. and spouse, Diane, of Hagerstown, and Krista Ballentine Bland and spouse, Richard, of Blossom, Texas; and five grandchildren, Jodi Lynn Ballentine, Kelli Ann Ballentine and Ashley Brooke Ballentine of Front Royal, Jon Hollingsworth Ballentine Jr. of Hagerstown and Matthew Evan Bland of Blossom; and one great-grandchild, Kyra C. Lane of Front Royal.
Services will be held on Tuesday, Dec. 30, at 10:30 a.m. at St. John's Lutheran Church, 141 S. Potomac St., Hagerstown. The Rev. Donald A. Haas will officiate. Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery.
Friends will be received at Douglas A. Fiery Funeral Home, 1331 Eastern Blvd. North, Hagerstown, on Monday, Dec. 29, from 7 to 9 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Scholarship Fund at St. John's Lutheran Church, 141 S. Potomac St., Hagerstown, MD 21740.
