His obituary, which was carried in the Xenia Daily Gazette on 21 Oct. 1981, p. 3, stated, “John L. Brenner, 70, of Kettering, died Monday at Miami Valley Hospital. He was a member of VFW Post 2800 and American Legion Post 675. Survivors include his wife, Margaret Barclay, four sons, Douglas of Rochester, N.Y., Bruce of the U.S. Navy, and Keith and Jeffrey of Kettering; three sisters, Keturah Anthony of Xenia, Nancy Offutt of Louisville and Katherine Brenner of Columbus; and one granddaughter.
