BOARDMAN – There will be prayers at 9 a.m. Saturday, May 12, at the Fox Funeral Home and a funeral Mass at 9:30 a.m. at St. Dominic Church for Joan Elaine Ansevin, 89, who died peacefully the morning of Wednesday, May 2, at Assumption Village.

Joan was born in Youngstown on Feb. 25, 1923, the only child to Tod and Naomi Davis Brenner and was a lifelong area resident. She and her parents were the first to travel in a motor coach across the United States to California.

She graduated from South High School with the Class of 1941 and also Youngstown Hospital Association School of Nursing, with the first graduating Class of 1945.

She was a registered nurse who worked at Southside Hospital, Little Forest Medical Center, Assumption Nursing Home when it was on Chalmers Avenue in Youngstown and also Hospice.

Her husband, Franklin D. Ansevin, whom she married on July 11, 1947, passed away on Oct. 30, 2010.

Joan was a very loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She always enjoyed life to the fullest with her wonderful, kind personality. She always enjoyed the family gatherings and holidays spent with her family. She was a very talented person, who loved to play the piano with her children and grandchildren gathered around.

Joan also loved to swim and golf and was a member of Leffingwell Hills Country Club and also Valley Golf Course and Mill Creek Ladies Golf Leagues. She was very talented in knitting and crocheting and made many beautiful Afghans. Joan was a member of St. Dominic Parish, their Altar Rosary Society and Youngstown Nurses Association.

She leaves to treasure her memories, her two sons, Dr. Carl Ansevin of Boardman and Gary (Teri) Ansevin of Laguna Hills, Calif.; three daughters, Jill Ansevin (Nick Simeone) of Boardman, Jane (Jim) Begala of Boardman and Janet Kay of Mountain View, Calif.; 10 grandchildren, Frank Ansevin of Boardman, Dr. Daniel (Janeece) Ansevin of Rocky River, Brian Ansevin and his fianceé, Jenny of Strongsville, Craig Ansevin of Fairview Park, Jenifer (Joe) Ceja of Laguna Hills, Christopher (Jayde) Ansevin of Laguna Hills, Anthony Ansevin, also of Laguna Hills, Gina Kimble of Boardman and Beth and David Kay of Mountain View; four great-grandchildren, Ethan, Charlie, Gracie Jo and Alex; one great-grandchild on the way; and her dear friend, Charlotte Gilliland.

The family would like to thank the staff at Assumption Village for the wonderful care they extended to Joan, Dr. Charles Wilkins who was always so kind and also the caregivers who took care of her when she was at home.

Joan will be missed very much by her family and friends and especially her daughters, Jill and Jane, who looked after their beautiful Mother for so many years.

Joan's famous saying was, "This too shall pass and there is a light at the end of the tunnel."

She is at peace and not in any more pain. "God Bless you Mom, we all love you very much."

The family wishes any memorial tributes go to the Alzheimer's Association, 3695 Boardman-Canfield Road, Boardman, OH 44512.

Joan will be buried at Calvary Cemetery next to her husband, Franklin.
