Born in Winston-Salem on Aug. 20, 1924, to Etta Estelle Butner Brewer and Fred Madison Brewer, she was of Moravian heritage and a lifelong member of Bethel United Methodist Church. Earlier in her life, she worked in her family's restaurant and in Quality Control at Western Electric Corp. She enjoyed cooking and baking and delighted many friends and family members who ate at her table. Most likely she will be remembered as Mrs. Santa Claus. Grandchildren include Nathan Chaney and Jacob Chaney of Blowing Rock and Lisa Wooten, Teresa Wooten Owen, Andrea Wooten Tuttle, Lee Wooten and Edwin Brown IV of Winston-Salem. The funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 8, at Bethel United Methodist Church on Burke Mill Road in Winston-Salem.
