E. Leroy Brewer, 86, of Nashville, N.C., formerly of New Kensington, died Tuesday (Dec. 31, 2002) in Autumn Care of Nash, Nashville, N.C.

He was born Sept. 20, 1916, in Morgantown, W.Va., and came to the New Kensington area in 1937, where he lived until moving to North Carolina four years ago.

A World War II veteran, he served with the Army.

For 30 years, he was a car salesman for the former Greenwald Auto, a Ford dealership in New Kensington. Later he was a security guard 10 years at the former Citizens General Hospital, New Kensington.

Mr. Brewer attended Arnold United Methodist Church, and was a member of Tyrian Lodge of Masons, Lower Burrell, Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite of Freemasonry in New Castle and the Syria Temple of Pittsburgh.

Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Mary Emma Howard Brewer; a son, Ronald Brewer of Anniston, Ala.; a daughter, Mrs. Lynda (Glenn) Kennedy of Rocky Mountain, N.C.; four great-grandchildren; and a sister, Anna Miller of Waynesburg.

Also surviving are three grandchildren, Cindy Lloyd, Sarah Winstead and Jeff Kennedy.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Rhetta Wade Brewer; and five sisters.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday in the ROSS G. WALKER FUNERAL HOME, New Kensington, where a service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday. Officiating will be the Rev. Joseph Yurko, pastor of Arnold United Methodist Church.

Private burial will be in Plum Creek Cemetery, Plum.

Members of Tyrian Lodge 644 of Masons will assemble at 7:30 p.m. Friday in the funeral home.
