Mrs. Muriel Brier Bailey, 46, wife of Edwin Bailey of Darien, Conn., died at 3 o'clock this morning in the Stamford, Conn., Hospital, where she had been a patient since about June 20. She suffered a sudden stroke in a Stamford doctor's office, where she was having a splinter removed from her finger.
Surviving, besides her husband, are a son and daughter, Peter and Martha Bailey of Darien, three brothers, Professor John C. Brier of the University of Michigan; Horace Brier of Santa Monica, Cal., and Roy Brier of Detroit, Mich..; and a sister, Kathleen, Mrs. James E. Bamborough of Royal Oak, Mich. A niece, Mrs. Robert T. Turnbull resides in Lakewood.
Mrs. Bailey was the youngest child of the late Mr. and Mrs. Ward Brier, whose family home for many years was at 115 Van Buren Street. She was born March 24, 1908.
A lovely person, she was deeply endeared to a wide circle of devoted friends in Jamestown, where she had returned for visits on many occasions during the intervening years. Mr. and Mrs. Bailey resided in Willoughby, O., before moving to Great Neck, L.I., and later to Darien about 30 years ago..
Mrs. Bailey was graduated from high school in Ann Arbor, Mich.,. and also from the University of Michigan.
Services will be held in Connecticut, before bringing the body to Jamestown, further announcement to be made later.
