Adolph F. Brier Dead

Adolph Fred Brier , a retired farmer, died at 3:20 o'clock Sunday afternoon at his home, 615 Congress.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock at the Roberts-Blue Funeral home. Rev. Ernest Tonsing, pastor of the St. Mark's Lutheran church, will conduct the services.

Mr. Brier was a farmer for 59 years. He retired and moved to town three months ago from a farm southwest of Emporia in the Lakeside neighborhood. Born June 17, 1864, in Stolophane, Germany, he came to Kansas in 1882, settling in Lyon County, and had lived here since.

Mr. Brier married Lizzie May Clobridge in Lyons, January 26, 1892. He is survived by his wife, of the home; three sons, Arthur Brier, 215 West Ninth; Harold Brier, 702 Cottonwood; and Fred Brier, Dodge City; a sister, Mrs. Charles Madden, Beardstown, Ill., and six grandchildren, E. Louise Sprague, Emporia; Leroy Sprague, Pocatello, Idaho; LaMar Sprague, in the United States armed forces; Floyd Sprague, Junction City; and Robert and Gene Brier, Emporia. A daughter, Mrs. Lyla F. Sprague, died in November, 1920. Mr. Brier was a member of St. Mark's Lutheran church.

The Brier Funeral

Funeral services for Adolph F. Brier were conducted by Rev. Ernest Tonsing, pastor of the St. Mark's Luther church, Tuesday afternoon in the Roberts-Blue Funeral home. Mr. Brier, a retired farmer, died Sunday afternoon at his home, 615 Congress. Mrs. L.A. Sorber and Mrs. Verne Georges sang at the services, with piano accompaniment by Mrs. S.J. Turille. Honorary pallbearers were Edgar O'Brien, Henry Williams, Lee Van Sickle, Charles Mayes, A.J. Haber and J.M. Macy. The active pallbearers were Harry Osborn, Charles Kapp, W.F. Dreasher, Dan Rowlands, Lyman Trumbull and D.E. Dumbauld. Burial was in Maplewood cemetery.

Out -of-town relatives and friends who attended the services were Mr. and Mrs. Fred L. Brier, Dodge City; Ira C.Latshaw, Springfield, MO.; Floyd Sprague, Junction City; Mr. and Mrs. Ed Jones and family, Olpe, and Mr. and Mrs, Vahsholtz, Madison.
