EUGENE A. BRIGGS, SR. GALESBURG -- Eugene A. "Gene" Briggs, Sr., 63, 658 E. South St., died today
at 7:45 a.m. in his home. He was born in Williamsfield Oct. 9, 1924. He was the son of Clarence andGeorgia Cooksey Briggs. He married Bonnie Pratt in Galesburg March 25, 1949. Surviving are his wife, one son, Eugene A. Briggs, Jr., Galesburg; three daughters,Joyce Cox, Galesburg, Beverly Meehan, Monmouth, and Mary Ashby, Carpentersville;one brother, Wayne Briggs, Galesburg; one sister, Doris Thompson, Galesburg, 15
grandchildren and two great grandchildren. He worked as a lumberjack and later as a contractor and carpenter before retiring. He
lived in Galesburg for several years. Funeral will be Monday at 10 a.m. in Hinchliff-Pearson-West Chapel, the Rev. J.T. Moore officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call in the
funeral home Sunday from 7 to 8:30 p.m.
