Juanita Jewel Brinson Bales, age 78, of Somerset, KY, departed this life on Friday, September 30, 2016 at Cumberland Nursing and Rehab.

Juanita was born on May 8, 1938 in Ruth, Kentucky to the late George Thomas and Flossee Helen Smiley Brinson. She was a member of Lakeside Church of Christ. Juanita was a former employee of Palm Beach and a Nurse’s Aide at Cumberland Nursing and Rehab.

She is survived by a son, Tony (and Colleen) Bales of Austin, TX; a sister, Valerie (and Lee) Whitehead of McCreary County; a step brother, Tommy Mitchell of Maysville, OH; and a granddaughter, Lauren Thompson of Arlington, TX.

Along with her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Allen Bales whom she married on October 17, 1957 and he preceded her on January 9, 2009; three brothers, Junior Brinson, Johnny Brinson and Erwayne Brinson; and a sister Peggy Eads.

Visitation will be on Tuesday, October 4, 2016 after 6:00pm at Lake Cumberland Funeral Home.

Her funeral service will be held on Wednesday, October 5, 2016 at 11:00am at the Chapel of Lake Cumberland Funeral Home. Burial will be at Pleasant View Cemetery.
