Ethel Mae Brock Bivens, 82, a resident of Central Heights, died Sunday, March 23, 2008, at Lexington Memorial Hospital after several months of declining health.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Clearview Baptist Church by Pastor Jeffrey Purdue. Entombment will follow in Forest Hill Memorial Park Mausoleum.
Mrs. Bivens was born in Sampson County on July 21, 1925, to Mr. and Mrs. Albert Brock. She was a homemaker and a member of Clearview Baptist Church. She enjoyed cooking, fishing, gardening and growing flowers. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Elizabeth Brock Schessow, and a brother, Albert "Buddy" Brock.
Surviving are two sons, Jimmy W. Wynn and his wife, Susan, and William C. Wynn and his wife, Becky, all of Lexington; two daughters, Evelyn Shipp Parrish and her husband, Jackie, of Clinton, and Patricia Wynn McCormick and her husband, Jerry, of Fries, Va.; four sisters, Kathleen Norris of Dunn, Ruby Smith of Wilmington, Mildred McGee and Becky Long, both of Thomasville; two brothers, Tommy Brock and Dewey Brock, both of Lexington; 12 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren; and a special friend, Dr. Charles Woodruff of Burlington, Iowa.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Piedmont Funeral Home and other times at the residence on Central Heights.
