Died at her home on East street, Thursday evening, July 31, Mrs. W. P. Barker, aged 54 years and 4 months. Martha J. Bromley was born at Ft. Wayne, Ind., March 31, 1845 and moved to Iowa where she was married to William P. Barker. They afterwards moved to Ponca, Neb., where they have lived for the past twelve years. Mrs. Barker was the mother of six sons, two of whom are dead. Those living are John, Guy, George and Perl. Deceased had been an invalid for the past fifteen years, and has been confined to her bed for about forty days. Her health was generally broken down and she died from a complication of diseases. The funeral services were held at the Lutheran church yesterday at 2 o'clock, Rev. Lipe conducting. Mrs. Barker has been a consistent member of the Lutheran church for a great many years and was a devoted Christian woman, a loving wife and a kind mother and neighbor.
She leaves a husband and four sons who are joined by many kind friends and neighbors in mourning the loss.
