She was married to Frank B. Ashton on October 18, 1893, and she and he lived most of their lives in Geneva. Mr. Ashton served as sheriff and was active in business and Mrs. Ashton in social and church affairs.
While they were living in Geneva, their two children, Thomas Edward Ashton and Herbert Lee Ashton, were born and reared.
After Mr. Ashton’s death, October 22, 1939, Mrs. Ashton continued to live in Geneva until her health became impaired and she went to California. During her last illness, she was in the home of her sister, Mrs. Clara Anderson, where she was tenderly taken care of.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother Benjamin; a sister, Belle; her husband; both sons, and a grandson Jack Thomas.
Surviving her are her brother, Lyman C. Brooke of Geneva, Neb., two sisters, Mrs. Clara Anderson of Los Angeles, and Mrs. Maude Stringfield of Geneva; four grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held in Los Angeles May 9, at 1:30 p. m. Her ashes will be sent to Geneva and placed in the family lot at a later date.
A kindly person, a good Christian woman, has departed this life. Her passing is a loss indeed.
