Mr. Brooks died Saturday, January 18, at home. He was born April 19, 1917, in Oakville, a son of the late Fred and Louise (Votour) Brooks. He was a lifelong resident of Oakville and Watertown, and attended local schools. He was employed at the Oakville Pin Shop as a millwright for more than 30 years. Mr. Brooks was an avid golfer and was a member of the Crestbrook Golf Club of Watertown, where he was a golf starter. He was a founding member of the Watertown-Oakville Little League and was an original member of the work crew that developed the Mosgrove Stadium baseball field in Oakville. He was a member of the Auxiliary Police of Watertown, the Knights of Columbus St. Pius X Council of Watertown-Oakville, and the founder of the Knights of Columbus Youth Organization, known as the Columbian Squires. He was a communicant of St. John the Evangelist Church.
He leaves two sons, Edward F. Brooks Jr. of Waterbury and James E. Brooks Sr. of Watertown; a sister, Mrs. Gladys Brooks Hubbard of Waterbury; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
