Axel N. Brostrom was born in Varmland, Sweden June 5, 1875. He was baptized and confirmed in Sweden. In 1895 he emigrated to the United States coming directly to Evansville, Minnesota. On March 16, 1901 he was united in marriage to Elizabeth Olson. After their marriage, Mr. and Mrs. Brostrom farmed in Evansville township until 1927 when they purchased a small farm in La Grande Township near Alexandria, Minnesota. Mrs. Brostrom preceded her husband in death on January 28, 1958. Mr. Brostrom made his residence in Alexandria until 1964 when he moved to Minneapolis where he has made his home for the past six years.
He passed away July 6, 1970 at the age of 95 years. Surviving are three daughters and one son, Gerda (Mrs. Walter Bjorkstrand) of Minneapolis, Mildred (Mrs. Otto Bjorklund) of Minneapolis, Myrtle (Mrs. Henry Olson) of Minneapolis, Edor Brostrom of Minneapolis. Also surviving are fourteen grandchildren and forty-three great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, one daughter Ruby, one son, Algot.
Funeral services were held July 10, 1970 at Calvary Covenant church in Evansville, Minnesota with Rev. Arthur Bergman of Evansville and rev. C. A. Beckman of Minneapolis officiating. Interment took place at Mound Grove Cemetery, Evansville, Minnesota. Pallbearers were Arthur Olson, David Anderson, Walter Anderson, Clarence Johnson, Aaron Anderson, Oscar Eidem.
