Jacquelyn Brough Barnhill, 86, passed away Monday, Sept. 3, 2007, after a two-year struggle with cancer. A long-time resident of St. Augustine, Fla., where she was born to the late John H. Brough and Thelma Cassin Brough of Elkton, Fla., on May 14, 1921, Jacquelyn peacefully went to the Lord while she slept.

Jackie, as she was called by her friends, graduated from Hastings High School in 1939. She moved to Charleston, S.C. with her mother where she met and married Harry Franklin Barnhill. When the marriage ended in 1956, Jacquelyn and her two children returned to Florida. She became an employee of the Florida National Guard at the State Arsenal in St. Augustine, where she retired after 30 years of service.

Jacquelyn was a long time member of Flagler Memorial Presbyterian Church and the Elizabeth Circle of Presbyterian Women. She was also a volunteer for Meals on Wheels, distributing meals to the less fortunate for several years.

Jacquelyn was preceded in death by both parents, her sister, Phyllis B. Knorr of St. Augustine, and her niece, Gretchen Knorr Driver of Elizabeth City, N.C.

She is survived by her daughter, Belle Eileen Barnhill of Orange Park, Fla., her son, David Harry Barnhill, Sr. (Annette) of Jacksonville, Fla., her grandson, David Harry Barnhill, Jr. of Jacksonville, Fla., a nephew, Rex B. Knorr (Joan) of St. Augustine, and five great-nephews: Jonathon B. Knorr, Jeremy A. Knorr, Corbett D. Tyler, Scott Arnold and Andrew Arnold.

There will be a memorial service held at Flagler Memorial Presbyterian Church on Sept. 21, 2007, at 2 p.m., where Jacquelyn's ashes will be interred in the Memorial Gardens Columbarium.
