Eleanore Dugan Molander Brown
"She had a great ride". Eleanore Brown passed away peacefully with her daughter holding her hand on December 5, 2005 from lung cancer at the age of 83. She was born on January 10, 1922 to Charles and Agnes Dugan and grew up on the Dugan Ranch in Placerville, California.
She married young and had six children, Bob, Jim, Karen, Mike, Skip and Tammy Smith. She married Adrian Molander in 1952 and they had 32 wonderful years together traveling, golfing and dancing until his death in 1984. During this time, Eleanore worked for the Sacto Army Depot as a Contracting Officer, retiring in 1975 with 25 years to become a "snowbird", eventually moving to Yuma.
Not one to slow down, she met Charles Brown at a dance and they were married in 1986. Chuck rebuilt old cars and they rode in many parades in their 1928 Dodge. They also had a wonderful time traveling and dancing until his death in 1994.
Eleanore lived an exciting and fun-filled life. She traveled to every state of the union, Canada, Mexico, England and Ireland. With her zest for life she was a great role model to everyone who knew her. She belonged to many clubs and organizations including the Nostalgia Car Club, Buggy Bunch, Newcomers, Lady Elks, Moose, and many more. Everyday of the week was taken up by some activity, whether it was club meetings, luncheons, taking friends to appointments, seeing friends in the hospital or playing cards with the Card-Playing Gals. She would also go out 5-6 days a week to dance and listen to her favorite country bands at the Moose, VFW and Mickey B's. To many, she WAS the energized bunny. She will be greatly missed by all her friends in Yuma.
Eleanore is survived by her daughter, Tammy Smith; daughter, Gail Hall; sixteen grandkids; thirteen great-grandkids; and many in-laws, and nieces, and nephews.
Eleanore was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Adrian Molander and Charles Brown; sister, Alberta Boots; son, Michael (1957); daughter, Karen Bruce (1987); and son, Skip (2005).
Eleanore and her family want to express their heartfelt thanks to everyone who visited her in the hospital in Palm Springs, and sent cards and/or called her during her short illness. Every call and card Eleanore received put a smile on her face.
A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. on December 15, 2005 in the chapel at East Lawn Memorial Park, 43rd St. and Folsom Blvd. A private interment will immediately follow.
